Joy Daniels Schwartz

Joy is a Savannah native who grew up along the rivers and marshes of the low country and holds a deep love for the beauty of the georgia and South Carolina Coast.

The Artist has drawn and painted since childhood.  As an adult she advanced her studies at the Columbus College of Art and Design, Columbus Ohio and the Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida.

In 1985, Joy left Savannah for nearly a quarter century but resided on Hilton Head in the 1990s and began painting the Southeast Coast which she interprets in oils and acrylics.

In 2010 she returned to her native city and established her studio.  Though her first love is painting landscapes, she creates informal portraits of people and animals as well, preferring to depict them in a setting familiar to their lifestyles.

Her work can be viewed at The Downstairs Gallery 19 West Gordon Street and Tapley’s Mercantile on Montgomery Crossroads and Waters Avenue in Savannah, GA.
